Ferrari has announced the Amalfi Spider, a high-performance convertible version of its existing Amalfi coupe. The new model features a five-layer fabric soft top, retaining the car’s sleek design while offering open-air driving. Priced from approximately €270,000, the Spider is slated for initial deliveries in early 2027.
Design and Aerodynamics
The Amalfi Spider’s design maintains the coupe’s aesthetic appeal whether the roof is up or down. Ferrari’s engineers have focused on airflow management, a critical element in open-top vehicles, integrating a deployable wind deflector into the rear seats to reduce turbulence for passengers.
Aerodynamically, the car includes an active rear wing with three settings, capable of generating up to 243 pounds of downforce at 155 mph in High Downforce mode. The roof itself is constructed from a layered fabric designed to minimize external noise. Buyers can choose from six exterior color options, including the new “Tecnico Ottanio.”
Performance and Technology
Under the hood, the Spider houses a twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter V8 engine delivering 631 horsepower. This engine, part of Ferrari’s F154e family, achieves a specific output of 163 hp per liter. The car’s curb weight is 3,430 pounds, slightly heavier than the coupe due to the soft-top mechanism.
The transmission is an eight-speed wet-clutch dual-clutch, borrowed from the SF90 Stradale, while the ABS Evo system is refined from the 296 GTB. Ferrari’s Side Slip Control (SSC) 6.1 integrates steering, torque management, and body-motion control for enhanced performance. Drivers can select from five driving modes – Wet, Comfort, Sport, Race, and ESC-Off – to customize the vehicle’s handling.
Interior and Safety Features
The interior blends sportiness with elegance, featuring a suspended aluminum center tunnel and nautical-inspired door panel designs. A monolithic cockpit integrates the instrument display, air vents, and two additional screens for infotainment and passenger functions.
The folded soft top occupies 220 millimeters of space, reducing trunk capacity from 9.0 to 6.1 cubic feet when lowered. The Spider also incorporates a suite of driver-assistance systems, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Detection, and driver fatigue monitoring. Optional upgrades include Surround View and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
The Amalfi Spider represents Ferrari’s commitment to both performance and luxury. By offering an open-top version of its grand tourer, Ferrari broadens the appeal of the Amalfi model, catering to enthusiasts who desire the thrill of high-speed driving with the freedom of a convertible. The combination of advanced technology, refined design, and powerful engine ensures that the Spider will likely be a sought-after vehicle when deliveries begin in 2027.
