Xiaomi’s first electric vehicle, the SU7, is receiving a significant update next month, including a new “Cream Beige” interior option and substantial improvements to performance, technology, and driving capabilities. The changes position the SU7 as a competitive contender in the crowded C-segment EV market.
Interior Refresh: A Focus on Luxury
The updated SU7 introduces the “Cream Beige” interior, inspired by natural materials and designed to deliver a simple yet luxurious feel. The colour palette uses low-saturation warm tones, paired with refined stitching details on the seats and door panels. Xiaomi has also redesigned the sub-instrument panel and steering wheel for a more premium look and feel.
This interior upgrade is part of a broader overhaul, with prices for the new SU7 starting at 229,900 yuan (approximately $32,800 USD). The price represents an increase of roughly $1,400 USD compared to the previous model.
Performance and Tech Enhancements
While the exterior remains largely unchanged, the new SU7 incorporates key hardware improvements. A millimetre-wave radar is integrated into the front grille, complementing the existing “waterdrop headlights” with a high-beam range of up to 400 km. Buyers will also have access to a wide selection of wheel rim options.
The vehicle maintains its C-segment dimensions: 4997 mm in length, 1963 mm in width, 1445 mm in height, with a 3000 mm wheelbase.
Under the hood, the SU7 benefits from significant chassis upgrades. All models now come standard with 245mm front and 265mm rear tires. Pro and Max versions feature a closed dual-chamber air suspension system and CDC adaptive dampers. Braking is improved across the board with four-piston fixed calipers and larger brake pads.
The new SU7 is equipped with LiDAR and 4D millimetre-wave radar, powered by a 700 TOPS computing chip to drive Xiaomi’s HAD end-to-end assisted driving technology.
Powertrain and Charging: 800V Architecture
The SU7 utilizes the V6s Plus Super Motor across all variants. The single-motor version delivers 315 hp and a top speed of 240 km/h. The dual-motor configuration combines a 295 hp front motor with a 386 hp rear motor, allowing for a top speed of 265 km/h.
A major upgrade is the adoption of an 800V architecture across the entire lineup, which enables ultra-fast charging capabilities. The base model offers a 720 km range, while the Pro version extends this to over 900 km. The high-end Max version reaches 835 km on a single charge. The 897V silicon carbide platform allows the SU7 to add up to 670 km of range in just 15 minutes.
The new Xiaomi SU7 represents a significant step forward in the EV market, combining luxury design, advanced technology, and competitive pricing. The 800V architecture and fast-charging capabilities position it well against rival electric vehicles.
