Fiat 600 Sport: Style Upgrade Without the Performance Boost

Fiat has expanded its 600 lineup with a new Sport trim, offering a bolder aesthetic for both hybrid and electric models. This isn’t a performance upgrade, but a visual one – injecting a more aggressive look into the already chic small SUV.

Bold New Look

The Sport trim introduces a striking palette of vibrant colors, including a standout Acid Green, paired with a contrasting black roof and dark 18-inch alloy wheels. This design choice aims to capture the attention of buyers seeking a more dynamic appearance, reminiscent of the high-performance Abarth 600e but without the hefty price tag.

Inside, the cabin receives a darker, more focused treatment with unique dashboard details and sportier seat upholstery. Fiat emphasizes a “refined yet spirited ambiance,” indicating a step up in visual intensity without sacrificing everyday usability.

Engine Options and Pricing

The Fiat 600 Sport will be available with two powertrain options when orders open in January:

  • Hybrid: Starting at £28,750 for the 100bhp version, or £29,750 for the 134bhp upgrade. This uses a 1.2-liter turbocharged engine paired with a 28bhp electric motor.
  • Electric (600e Sport): Priced at £29,750, it offers a 54kWh battery with around 250 miles of range and a 154bhp electric motor.

Notably, the electric Sport trim undercuts the Abarth 600e by roughly £7,000, making it a more accessible option for those wanting the aggressive look without the full performance package.

Performance Trade-offs

While the Sport trim enhances the aesthetics, it does not include suspension upgrades or larger brakes. Those seeking genuine performance enhancements will still need to consider the Abarth 600e or explore alternatives like the Ford Puma ST-Line (starting at £27,480) or the electric Ford Puma Gen-E (£28,245).

The 600e Sport’s 0-62mph time of nine seconds is slower than the hybrid version’s 8.5 seconds, illustrating that the focus is on style rather than speed.

The Fiat 600 Sport is a clear statement that aesthetics and price point can matter just as much as raw performance in today’s competitive SUV market. It delivers a visual punch without breaking the bank.
