Kia Unveils Compact EV2, New GT Lineup at Brussels Motor Show

Kia has made a significant splash at the Brussels Motor Show with the debut of its most compact electric vehicle yet, the EV2. The launch signals Kia’s commitment to expanding EV accessibility with a more affordable, city-friendly option. Alongside the EV2, the brand also introduced a trio of high-performance GT models – the EV3 GT, EV4 GT, and EV5 GT – designed to inject excitement into its electric lineup.

EV2: Compact Power and Practicality

The EV2, designed and manufactured in Europe, will be available with two battery options: a 42.2kWh unit for shorter commutes and a 61.0kWh version offering a range of up to 278 miles. The vehicle’s interior prioritizes space efficiency with a sliding and reclining rear seat system, providing rear legroom up to 958mm—a class-leading figure. Boot capacity reaches 403 liters with the seats forward, complemented by an additional 15-liter frunk. Expected to start around £25,000, the EV2 is positioned as a competitive entry point into the EV market.

Kia GT Models: Electrification with Emotion

Kia’s new GT variants aim to redefine electric driving by combining instant electric power with sporty characteristics. These models feature GT-exclusive drive modes, electronically controlled chassis systems, digital lighting, and personalized interfaces, all designed to deliver an engaging driving experience. According to Kia CEO Soohang Chang, the GT models prove that “electrification can be emotional and resolute.”

Brussels Motor Show: The New Automotive Hub

The Brussels Motor Show has emerged as a key international automotive event following the cancellation of the Geneva Motor Show. This year, it also hosted the European Car of the Year (ECOTY) awards, where the Mercedes-Benz CLA secured the title with 320 points, surpassing the Skoda Elroq by a wide margin. The Kia EV4 took third place.

Beyond Kia: A Showcase of Electric Innovation

The Brussels Motor Show wasn’t just about Kia. Other automakers used the event to showcase future models, including Renault’s electric Twingo revival, Citroen’s ELO people mover, and various concepts from Hyundai, Dacia, and DS. The event underscores the rapid shift towards electrification within the automotive industry.

The Brussels Motor Show’s emergence as a major event highlights the changing dynamics of the automotive calendar. The show serves as a platform for brands to not only unveil new vehicles but also set the tone for future trends in mobility. With a mix of practical EVs, high-performance GT models, and innovative concepts, the show signals a future where electric driving is both accessible and engaging.
