Manhart Unleashes 900-HP BMW M5 Touring: A Performance Beast

Manhart Performance has again redefined the limits of the BMW M5 Touring, pushing the already potent super estate to an astonishing 900 horsepower. This latest upgrade, dubbed the MH5 900E package, significantly raises the bar set by the firm’s previous 789-hp versions, showcasing just how much untapped potential remains within BMW’s 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8.

Power Beyond Factory Limits

BMW left substantial power on the table in the latest M5 generation. While the base V8 produces 577 hp, and the M5 CS hit 627 hp, Manhart has exploited the engine’s capabilities to deliver a combined 897 hp (910 PS) and 885 lb-ft (1,200 Nm) of torque. This was achieved through upgraded turbochargers, alongside extensive software recalibration to unlock the engine’s full potential.

To support this extreme power output, Manhart has fitted a valved stainless-steel exhaust system with matte-black tailpipes and newly developed downpipes. Note: these downpipes are not road-legal in Germany and are intended solely for export markets.

Subtle Styling, Maximum Impact

Manhart distinguishes itself from some tuners by avoiding overly aggressive cosmetic modifications. The MH5 900E largely retains the look of the 2024 MH5 800E, with only minor changes: revised front and rear bumpers, and tasteful gold vinyl accents.

Customers can also opt for Manhart’s Concave One forged wheels in 21- or 22-inch sizes, paired with high-performance tires (285/35 or 295/30 front, 305/30 or 315/30 rear). Suspension upgrades, including H&R lowering springs or KW adjustable coilovers, aim to improve handling, though coilovers may compromise ride comfort for daily use. The braking system remains factory-spec despite the considerable power increase.

A Statement on Untapped Potential

The MH5 900E is a clear statement about the inherent capabilities of BMW’s V8 engine. While the M5 Touring’s weight remains a factor, Manhart’s tuning package transforms it into a formidable high-performance machine, capable of rivaling dedicated sports cars. This upgrade is not merely about horsepower; it’s about demonstrating what’s achievable when limits are pushed beyond factory constraints.
