Chery Jetour Zongheng G600: New Hybrid SUV Targets Premium Off-Road Market

Chery’s Jetour sub-brand is preparing to launch the Zongheng G600, a luxury plug-in hybrid SUV designed to compete directly with established players like the GWM Tank 700. The vehicle represents a significant step for Jetour into the higher price segment, ranging from $58,000 to $217,500 USD. This move is backed by strong sales figures; Jetour sold over 622,000 units in 2025, indicating a solid base for expansion into the premium market.

Design and Key Features

Official teasers reveal a rugged design consistent with the Zongheng G700, including high ground clearance, a roof rack, and distinctive C-shaped LED lighting. While earlier prototypes featured futuristic elements like digital side mirrors, the production model is expected to blend these with practical off-road hardware. The G600 emphasizes a robust exterior look, appealing to both urban drivers and overlanding enthusiasts.

Powertrain and Performance

The Zongheng G600 will be built on Chery’s GAIA platform, utilizing the Kunpeng Super Performance Electric Hybrid (C-DM) system. The engine is predicted to be a 2.0-liter turbocharged hybrid, achieving 45.5% thermal efficiency. A 2-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) will manage power delivery, supported by an 800V silicon carbide platform designed for rapid charging and high output.

Battery and Range Capabilities

The vehicle is expected to support 800V 4C charging, recovering 400 km of range in just 6 minutes. While the exact battery capacity remains unconfirmed, Jetour typically uses CATL LFP packs. The G600 aims for a 1,400 km (CLTC) combined range, putting it on par with other models in the Zongheng series. This high-performance battery setup is crucial, as demand for long-range hybrid SUVs is rising globally.

Market Strategy and Production

The Zongheng G600 is central to Jetour’s “Travel+” 3.0 strategy, targeting 1 million annual units by 2026. Production will take place in Chery’s dedicated off-road plants. The brand has already surpassed 2.15 million cumulative global sales, proving its ability to scale production and meet growing demand. The G600 is positioned to capture a significant share of the full-size luxury off-road market, capitalizing on the increasing popularity of hybrid SUVs.

The G600’s launch represents a calculated move by Chery to expand its reach into the premium segment, leveraging proven hybrid technology and strong sales momentum. This expansion will likely accelerate competition in the luxury off-road market.
