Chinese automaker Changan plans to introduce the E06, an all-electric small SUV, to the United Kingdom by 2027. The vehicle, currently known as the Q05 in China, will position itself as an entry-level model within Changan’s expanding European lineup, slotting below the Deepal S05 and S07.
Competitive Positioning
The E06 is designed to compete directly with popular EVs like the Skoda Elroq, Kia EV3, and Jeep Avenger EV. Pricing is expected to be competitive, potentially under £30,000, given the Deepal S05’s projected starting price of under £34,000. This aggressive pricing strategy is typical of Chinese manufacturers aiming to gain market share in Europe.
Battery, Range, and Performance
The E06 will feature a 61.7kWh battery, providing a range of approximately 280 miles (450km). With DC fast-charging capability up to 162kW, the battery can be replenished from 30% to 80% in roughly 15 minutes. A front-mounted electric motor will deliver 268bhp (199kW), though final performance figures remain undisclosed.
Interior and Technology
Inside, the E06 boasts a minimalist design centered around a large 15.6-inch central touchscreen and a 10.2-inch driver display. Despite its compact size, Changan claims the vehicle will offer generous rear passenger space with up to 800mm of knee room. Cargo capacity is also substantial at 545 liters.
Changan’s UK Presence
While the E06 is a recent development for European markets, Changan has maintained a research and development facility near Birmingham, UK, for 15 years. This local presence could accelerate the E06’s adaptation to European standards and regulations.
The E06 represents Changan’s serious intent to establish itself as a major player in the competitive UK EV market. Its pricing, range, and warranty terms make it a compelling alternative to established European brands.
The E06 is expected to launch in the UK in 2027, marking another step in China’s growing automotive influence in Europe.
