The BYD Ti7, a plug-in hybrid SUV, has been unveiled at the Bangkok Motor Expo 2025 as the brand’s latest model for international markets. This launch follows the vehicle’s impressive performance in China, where it sold 50,000 units in just 80 days, signaling BYD’s ambition to replicate this success worldwide. The Ti7, previously known as the Fang Cheng Bao Ti7 (Titanium 7) in China, is priced between $25,410 and $31,060, demonstrating a competitive price point in the growing hybrid SUV segment.
Domestic Triumph and Export Strategy
The Ti7’s rapid adoption in China is a key indicator of its market potential. Between September and October, the SUV delivered over 28,000 units, with an additional 21,850 sold in November alone. This strong domestic performance has prompted BYD to prioritize overseas expansion, starting with the Thai market as a strategic beachhead for broader international distribution.
Design and Features
The BYD Ti7 features a bold, boxy design with a flat roofline and pronounced wheel arches. It includes matrix LED headlights, a swing-out taillight door with integrated storage, and 20-inch blackened rims. Notably, the display model in Thailand retains left-hand drive configuration and Chinese branding, as it was initially manufactured for the domestic market.
The interior is dominated by a minimalist white color scheme and seven integrated displays : a 15.6-inch central control screen, a 12.3-inch instrument panel, a 26-inch W-HUD, dual air-conditioning control screens, and two 13-inch BYD Pads for rear passengers. The Ti7 also boasts a panoramic glass roof, a 20-speaker audio system, and ambient lighting. The vehicle is currently offered only in a five-seat configuration.
Performance and Powertrain
The top-trim model showcased in Bangkok features a dual-motor 4WD system powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged ICE (154 hp) combined with two electric motors delivering a total output of 483 hp. A 35.6 kWh LFP battery pack provides a CLTC range of 190 km (approximately 118 miles). This powertrain configuration allows for a 0-to-60 mph acceleration time of just 4.5 seconds, along with a torque-vectoring system for enhanced handling.
Global Expansion Timeline
While an exact global launch date remains unconfirmed, the Ti7’s presence at the Bangkok Motor Expo strongly suggests that international availability could arrive as early as next year. BYD’s move into Thailand reflects a broader strategy to leverage its successful domestic models for growth in overseas markets, particularly in Southeast Asia and beyond.
The Ti7’s success in China shows how quickly consumers adopt competitive hybrid technology. Its expansion abroad will be watched closely as a test case for how well Chinese EVs can compete on the global stage.
