BMW has raised the price of its next-generation iX3 electric SUV by €2,000 in Germany, just months after opening orders. The move comes before the first customer deliveries are scheduled to begin in March, marking a rapid adjustment to the vehicle’s initial pricing.
Demand and Production
The iX3, which debuted at the IAA Mobility Show in September 2025, originally cost €68,900 in Germany. High demand for the electric SUV has prompted BMW to accelerate production at its Debrecen plant in Hungary, adding a second shift earlier than planned. The company appears confident that the price increase will not deter buyers, despite potential competition from rivals like the Mercedes-Benz GLC electric SUV, which starts at €71,281.
US Pricing and Future Variants
While pricing for the US market remains unconfirmed, BMW estimates the iX3 will cost “around $60,000.” The vehicle is scheduled to launch in North America this summer. Additional variants, including a cheaper single-motor rear-wheel-drive iX3 40, are expected later this year in Europe and in early 2027 for North America. BMW is also planning high-performance M Performance and full M versions of the iX3, starting with the M60 model in Europe later this year.
Market Context
The price increase may be partially offset by government subsidies of up to €6,000 for electric car buyers in Germany. However, the move raises questions about potential pricing adjustments in other markets, particularly the US, where BMW has not yet announced a firm starting price.
The early price hike suggests strong demand for the iX3, but also highlights a willingness among automakers to adjust prices rapidly even before vehicles reach customers.
The first iX3 deliveries are expected in March.
