GAC Aion has officially launched its latest compact SUV, the Aion i60, priced between 109,800 and 135,800 yuan (approximately $15,400 to $19,000 USD). The vehicle offers both fully electric (EV) and range-extended (EREV) powertrain options, targeting a broad consumer base seeking practicality and extended driving range.
Powertrain and Range
The Aion i60 stands out with its extended range capabilities. The range-extended version combines a 1.5L engine (74 kW) with an electric motor (180 kW / 241 hp) to deliver a combined CLTC range of 1,240 kilometers. This addresses range anxiety, a major barrier for EV adoption. The EREV model achieves 5.5L/100km fuel consumption in charge-sustaining mode, and supports fast charging (30% to 80% in 15 minutes).
The fully electric variant boasts a 75 kWh battery pack, providing a maximum CLTC range of 650 kilometers. This positions the i60 competitively within the EV segment.
Exterior Design
The i60’s exterior features a modern aesthetic. Deep, upward-swept headlights house dual LED light sources, complemented by a daytime running light strip. The front fascia incorporates the Aion logo and an air intake design, along with an external projector.
The vehicle measures 4,685mm in length, 1,854mm in width, and 1,660mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,775mm. This makes it larger than the Aion V, while retaining a five-seater configuration. Semi-hidden door handles and rearview mirrors with auxiliary driving lights add to the contemporary design. Customers can choose between 18-inch and 19-inch wheel options.
Interior Features
Inside, the Aion i60 mirrors the design language of the Aion V. A two-tone upper and lower interior scheme, separated by metallic trim, creates a modern cabin feel. Three color options – Oat Milk White, Warm Velvet Light Brown, and Tahiti Grey – are available, enhanced by 32-color ambient lighting.
The vehicle features a simplified scroll-wheel steering wheel, a square floating central control screen, and a digital instrument cluster. Two wireless charging pads are included below the screen. Traditional mechanical door handles are retained for ease of use.
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems
The Aion i60 is equipped with GAC’s GSD intelligent driving assistance system, supporting high-speed Navigation Driving Assist (NDA) and Intelligent Parking Assist (HPA). These features enable on/off-ramp assistance and lane changes, enhancing safety and convenience.
Color Options
The Aion i60 is available in six exterior colors: Warm Velvet Gold, Galaxy Blue, Arctic White, Seafire Grey, Night Shadow Black, and Holographic Silver. The rear doors open nearly 90 degrees for easier access, and an electric tailgate with a low sill design further enhances convenience.
